Betting Strategies for Roulette
The first thing to consider when you’re trying to come up with Betting Strategies for Roulette is this: you’ve got to figure out what kind of money you’re looking to make. The roulette wheel is often crowded at a casino because of the glamour inherent to the game, but also because that’s where the high rollers go. They go there because roulette has the biggest payoffs of any casino game. The thing is, the bigger payoffs are the result of longer odds. So when you’re trying to come up with betting strategies for roulette, it helps to know how the game works.
Essentially, there are two ways to play the game. You can bet on numbers or colors. Betting on a color—either red or black—is what the novice player usually does. The payoff for a correct pick is 2 to 1, which is exactly what the odds are. But for more experienced players, there is a degree of strategy that exists in playing numbers on the board. Having said that, it should be said that there is no bona fide winning strategy for winning at roulette, because roulette is not a game of probability, like blackjack, nor is it a game that you play against other people, like poker.
In a game like blackjack, in theory, you can figure out, odds-wise, what the next card might be, and in poker, it is possible to decipher what your opponent(s) are holding based on their tics and tells. One roulette spin is a self-enclosed entity, bearing no relation to the previous spin or the next one. And yet many people suggest that they have devised a system to win at roulette.
One such system suggests that you must follow a win by increasing the bet, while following a loss with the same bet. This system is dubbed “The Turnaround.” Detractors of this system suggest that its creator worked hand in hand with the casinos to develop a system, which would bankrupt players faster, as the best way to make money off a gambler is to get them to gamble their winnings immediately.
Systems like “The Turnaround,” though, are missing a fundamental point: there is no way to beat a roulette wheel. It’s a device that guarantees, on a long enough timeline, that the casino always wins. Unlike other games, which confer a slight advantage to the player, roulette’s odds are clearly stacked against the player, and as such, players should never bank on scoring at the roulette wheel. |
