Many people are confused by the slot machine line that acts as the payline on a slot machine. Usually there is only one slot machine line and any symbol that lands on that line that is also a paying combination will pay you a jackpot of some sort. Sometimes there will be special symbols that are bonus symbols and will pay whether they are on the line or below or above the line. Usually they can be only one position above or below the slot machine line in order to count as part of a combination and pay a jackpot as a result. These single line machines are by far the most common in many casinos.

These machines may have 25 lines and you may be able to wager as much as ten coins per slot machine line. Even if you are playing pennies, you will be wagering as much as $2.50 each time if you play the maximum bet.

Regarding maximum bet and slot machine lines, examine the payout table closely. Often you will not win the progressive payout unless you have the maximum number of coins in the machine. Anything less that the maximum with all slot machine lines bet could mean you could miss a payout or not receive the jackpot which would be very disappointing. Always check the payouts for each slot machine line so you are aware of what you need to bet to ensure you maximize your wins.
