Las Vegas Convention Center.com

The Las Vegas Convention Center.com is host to many conventions every year. Some conventions are huge with as many as 100,000 people attending, while others will be less than 100. The convention center has facilities to handle them all, however the smaller conventions gravitate to the hotels while the big ones will use all of the space at the convention center as well as much of the hotel based convention space.

The Las Vegas Convention Center is one of the most modern and functional facilities in the world - a 3.2 million square foot facility located within a short distance of more than 100,000 guest rooms. Operated by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the center is well known among industry professionals for its versatility. There is also a grand lobby and registration area (more than 225,000 square feet) efficiently link existing exhibit halls with new exhibit and meeting rooms, and allowing simultaneous set-up, break-down and exhibiting of multiple events.

Every hotel has convention space and depending on the hotel can handle quite large conventions. It is very convenient to be able to stay in the same hotel were your convention is being held since this reduces the walking a great deal. I once attended a conference at the MGM Grand and stayed at the Montecarlo hotel, which is just across the street. It took me 30 minutes to walk from my room to the front of the hotel, across the street and to the back of the MGM Grand were the convention area is. So if you want to avoid a lot of walking, book early and stay at the hotel were it is being held.

Las Vegas is very market oriented. When the hotel fills up, as in a large convention, the rates go up. Sometimes you can find rates as low as $79 during an off week, and the following week they will be over $500 for a the same room for one night. It is always a good idea to book early and to shop around a bit to find reasonable rates. Small conventions may fill up one hotel causing the rates to rise and the next one is empty!

Large conventions will also have special transportation arrangements. When there is a big one such as the NAB held at the convention center, special buses are put on to take convention goers to and from the hotels. You can also take advantage of the new monorail that runs from many of the hotels to the convention center. Above all don't forget to have fun as well in Las Vegas while you attend the convention.
