The Convention Lodging Las Vegas capabilities in Las Vegas are legendary! Since money is really no object in Las Vegas, lodging can be a simple straight forward room with all of the accoutrements that you would expect of lodgings in Las Vegas to a suite with richly appointed linens, flowers, stocked bar and more. It is always best to stay at one of the main stream hotels on the strip. There are cheaper hotels and motels on the strip and off the strip, however in our opinion you are just asking for trouble and for a few extra dollars you can stay in a really nice room in a nice hotel. If you find the hotel restaurants and coffee shops too expensive, MacDonalds is usually not far away along with other restaurants that you can go to. Some hotels such as the Montecarlo even have a MacDonalds right in the food court at their hotel.

However Las Vegas is now a large city with well over a million people. Like an large city there are areas you just stay away from because they are a bit seedier and most tourists should be careful if you venture into any of these areas. For example the area along the strip north of the Stratosphere towards downtown is a regular place for winos etc to hang out. One of my friends who inadvertently walked into this area was aksed for money by a street person. After giving him a few dollars, the guy was kind enough to tell my friend that he and his wife should not really be in that area! Not all encounters would turn out as well.
Las Vegas is very market oriented. When the hotel fills up, as in a large convention, the rates for Convention Lodging Las Vegas go up. Sometimes you can find rates as low as $79 during an off week, and the following week they will be over $500 for a the same room for one night. It is always a good idea to book early and to shop around a bit to find reasonable rates. Small conventions may fill up one hotel causing the rates to rise and the next one is empty!
